It’s a gorgeous day in April, and I’m sitting on a balcony overlooking Roche Harbor. Seaplanes are buzzing in, birds are singing, and I am fully appreciating the brilliance of a “workation.”  What better task for this moment than to write about another lovely weekend at Roche Harbor Resort, when we had the pleasure of designing Laura and Kyle’s wedding flowers?

This place is so magical. The cobblestone streets, the historic buildings, all the boats and blissed out people. I love setting up weddings in a spot like this. Down in the Sunken Garden, we worked to hang flowers and greenery from Holly-Kate and Company’s lovely little vintage door — perfect in scale and tone for this slightly whimsical, very romantic setting. Vacationers wandered by, oohing and ahhing as much over the blue tweedia and white fairy roses tumbling through the frame as they did from the garden itself.

Down in the Seaside Lawn, yellow garden roses were a striking contrast against the navy linens and silver vases. I finished setting up and wandered back up to find my husband and son poking around on the docks. Later on, we watched the party from across the water, the DJ lights turning the tent rose and purple and blue, the music adding to the sounds of summer at Roche Harbor. What a night — what a wedding — what a place!!
